Inland Revenue Investigations

Being subject to an HM Revenue & Customs Investigation can be a very stressful experience. You may have be caught for failure to declare an income, or be subject to a full investigation of your affairs.

Although the HM Revenue & Customs has a duty to play fair with you, it can quite often seem that they hold all knowledge and you are in no position to argue.

By employing an accountant to act as your agent can gain in a number of ways:

bullet You do not have to discuss the case directly with the IR if you don't feel confident to do so.
bullet We will present your affairs to minimise the liability, and therefore reduce the levels of fines and penalty interest levied on your account.
bullet By giving a second opinion about the level of liability you can avoid trying to argue a small point that you really should concede, and concentrate on areas of debate.
bullet We advise you on your rights, and those of the investigating team, guiding you where leading questions are being asked.
bullet Finally we will negotiate on your behalf - many investigations end up with a negotiated settlement, many times lower than the initial amount claimed.

If you are currently being subject to investigation, and are unrepresented, please get in touch to discuss your situation.
