I trained with KPMG in 1995, qualifying as Chartered Accountant in 1998 before moving into industry for five years. I started my own practice in 2003.
This mixture of practice and industry experience from a range of business sizes has given me a good breadth of knowledge. I find having been “both sides of the fence”, really helps when advising clients commercially.
I take an active part in tax consultations helping shape tax policy, resulting in an invitation to give evidence to a House of Lords Economic Affairs & Finance Bill Committee in 2018.
I am also an author with Tax Cafe. My book “Keeping it Simple” was in its 17th edition at the time of writing.
“He fees are fair, his advice relevant, his manner easy but appropriate. In short, he does his job well which allows me to do mine.” Amanda Maris, Amaryllis Publishing Ltd
I am a Chartered Accountant in my own right, having qualified in 2016. Before joining James in a Practice role in March 2021, I worked in industry for over 10 years. I very much enjoy working with smaller clients on a personal basis and helping them improve their record keeping. Outside of work when I am not keeping my young sons out of mischief I enjoy following the Surrey and England cricket teams.
James says: “By employing a high calibre assistant I ensure that the routine compliance work gets done properly and there is proper review process. Nearly everything that goes out is looked at twice, something rarely found in a small firm.”
