Getting it right
We don’t just copy the figures you supply into a tax return and press send. We take time to understand your circumstances and check everything is complete, and you have not missed any claims. We will talk to you at least once a year about your return.
Acting as your agent with HMRC
We will represent you fully with HMRC. Not only will we will file your returns, we also deal with correspondence and ensure you are dealt with fairly.
Through a low cost insurance backed tax investigations service we can represent you if there is a tax investigation with no further fee.
We take on the burden of liaising with HMRC, which can be time-consuming and stressful for the unrepresented taxpayer.
This section outlines how we work with you.
The Free Consultation
This is a short conversation by phone usually lasting from 10-15 minutes for simple affairs, to half an hour or more if you have some issues to discuss. You will be given information about the service and the opportunity to ask questions. We will establish what sources of income you have, the complexity of your affairs and which forms are needed. At the end of the conversation a fixed fee will usually be offered to act as your agent for the tax year. We confirm all prices quoted via email to ensure there is no misunderstanding.
The Information
A list of the required information will be emailed to you following the initial call. Clients usually send the majority of the information to us via email or in the post, but we can use anything that is convenient for you. Due to the money laundering regulations, two forms of ID will also be requested for all new clients.
The Return
The return will be drafted from the information supplied, normally within 14-21 days. Once we have gone through it, James will usually contact you by phone to discuss your return in more detail and clarify any points outstanding. When the return is completed we will send you a copy together with any backing schedules for your approval. Our cover letter will include details of how to pay your tax bill, along with any constructive comments we may have discussed. We can issue you with either paper or electronic copies of all documents according to your preference.
The Filing
When you have approved the return, it will be submitted by us direct to HMRC.
The End?
Well until next year! In the meantime, you will have access to a fully qualified Chartered Accountant for the duration of the tax year to assist with minor queries for no additional fee. Providing even our smallest tax return clients with access to on-going advice and support is an integral part of our service.
